Portland’s Cycling Culture has been noticed

obra4 | November 5, 2007

I knew it was a bicycling haven but it appears the New York Times thinks so as well. Their Monday (11/05/07) edition features a story on the bike culture here in Portland, OR.

The article, In Portland, Cultivating a Culture of Two Wheels, was featured on the first page of NYTimes.com, plus it’s accompanied by a nice little video. They give notice to Portland as “Bike City USA”, the article primarily revolves around our Custom framebuilders and the Portland’s effort to promote and encourage bike-related businesses.

Featured in the article are builders Tony Pereira, Andy Newlands, and Sacha White (My favorite). With close to twelve frame builders around Portland (see a list of them on bike portland’s link page). There are a few other notable mentions around this great city as well: Chris King, Castelli (Downtown PDX), Pearl Izumi (Cross the river) Rolf Prima (Eugene), Comotion Cycles (Eugene), Veloforma, Inside Ride (Great Rollers). Just a short list, cause there’s quite a few.
